North Medford comes up short against GP

GRANTS PASS — Despite a handful of solid efforts by North Medford, Grants Pass swept the Southern Oregon Hybrid track and field meet on Wednesday, with its boys edging the Tornado 75-70 and the Caver girls winning 89-55.

Michael Wilkins, Ray Schireman and Aaron Browne-Moore paved the way for North Medford's boys team with multiple victories.

Wilkins won the 100-meter dash in 11.50 seconds and the 200 in 23.31, then ran the third leg of the winning 4x100 relay squad for North.

Schireman pulled off a tough triple by winning the 800 (2:06) and the 1,500 (4:15.01) before anchoring the long relay to victory in in 3:35.86.

Browne-Moore cruised to victory in the 400 (53.53) and ran a leg on both winning relay teams.

The Black Tornado's Halley Folsom placed first in the 100 hurdles (16.12) and ran the opening leg of the winning long relay with Savannah Greenwade, Genesis Tepper and Meghan Cowan.

Zac Hannan won both the 110 and 300 hurdles for the Grants Pass boys, while Tarisa Olinski captured first in the 100 and 200 for the Cavers.

ROSEBURG TOPS SOUTH — Roseburg cruised to a pair of victories at South Medford High, 87-57 for the boys and 80-62 for the girls.

South Medford's Caleb Rayburn won the shot put (48-33/4) and discus (120-6) and Michael Glockling finished first in the javelin (150-5) and triple jump (41-5) to pace the Panther boys.

Lael Smith (400), Montana Logue (100 hurdles), Sara Miles (shot put) and Lauren Orndoff (high jump) scored the only wins for the Panther girls.

CRATER SWEEPS ASHLAND — At Central Point, Crater had eight different boys win an individual event to edge Ashland, 73-65, and Lexy McWillie scored a pair of victories to lead the Crater girls to an 82-55 triumph.

McWillie, a sophomore, won the 100 (13.64) and 100 hurdles (17.79) for the Comets, while Ashland got a pair of individual wins from Laurel Watson (200 and long jump) and Kelsey McKelvey (discus and javelin).

Wyatt Thompson-Siporen won the long jump and discus to pace the Ashland boys.
