Harrower, Grizzlies tear apart Hornets
KLAMATH FALLS — Jessica Harrower’s spectacular all-around effort led the way as the Ashland girls soccer team dismantled Henley, 4-0, in a nonconference game on Wednesday.
Harrower, a senior, had a hand in every Ashland goal, recording two goals and two assists to help the Grizzlies improve to 2-1 overall. Henley fell to 0-2.
Harrower opened the scoring in the 38th minute when she looped in a corner kick, then teamed up with freshman Mya Elder-Hammond eight minutes into the second half, with Elder-Hammond’s goal coming off a perfect give-and-go.
Harrower notched her second goal in the 61st off a nice assist from junior Samantha Lilley, who dished nicely into the penalty box to set up Harrower’s short, angled shot.
Senior Facienne Graham tacked on the final insurance goal for the Grizzlies off Harrower’s final assist. Harrower found Graham streaking toward the net, and Graham dribbled around the keeper for the finish.
CASCADE CHRISTIAN 1, GLIDE 0: Freshman forward Colby Edwards scored from close range in the 45th minute on an assist by Jeffrey Fairbanks for Cascade Christian in nonleague action at U.S. Cellular.
Goalkeeper Asa Hoffman recorded the complete-match shutout for the Challengers (2-0), who outshot Glide, 28-3.
KLAMATH UNION 5, CRATER 0: At Klamath Falls, Klamath Union (3-0) cruised in nonleague action.
Senior midfielder Cyrus Irigoyen’s free kick went just wide of the far post in the second half for Crater, which trailed 3-0 at intermission.
