Local water polo teams pick up wins

Ashland boys, girls water polo win matches

ASHLAND — The Ashland girls water polo team beat South Salem, 15-12, and the Grizzly boys defeated South Salem, 15-7, at Southern Oregon University on Sunday.

For the girls, Kyilyn Boehm made 13 blocks and Sabrina Scoggin scored eight goals and made four steals.

For the boys, Tristan Gavin scored four goals and Michael Loop had two goals and three steals.

Medford boys water polo picks up victories

ASHLAND — The Medford boys water polo team topped South Salem, 11-6, and lost to West Salem, 16-7, at Southern Oregon University on Sunday.

Against South Salem, Micah Mills and Cyrus Christianson both had three goals and goalkeeper Chris Ball had 11 saves.

Against West Salem, Bram Gibson and Carter Hazen each recorded two goals and Ball made 11 saves.

Medford beat Churchill/Springfield, 15-0, and downed Willamette, 12-5, on Saturday. Mills combined for nine goals.

In girls water polo, South Salem beat Medford, 13-3, on Sunday. Marissa Drake had two goals and goalkeeper Andrea Babb made 11 saves. Medford and West Salem ended in a 10-10 tie, with Drake and Rayna Zohar each turning in four goals and Babb making 13 saves.
