Haugen's big game spurs RVA

Trevor Haugen powered Rogue Valley Adventist with 32 points and 12 rebounds as the host Red Tail Hawks rolled over North Lake, 71-46, in Mountain Valley League boys basketball Thursday.

Rogue Valley Adventist (9-4, 2-1 MVL) outscored North Lake 20-4 in the third period, mostly by creating turnovers and finishing in transition.

Haugen went 11-for-18 from the floor. Nathan James tallied 19 points and four assists, and Jared Cumbee came close to a triple-double with 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

The Cowboys were led by Ethan Murphy’s 15 points.

ROGUE VALLEY ADVENTIST 30, NORTH LAKE 22: Jaecelynne Pardy’s efficiency helped host Rogue Valley Adventist hold off North Lake in Mountain Valley League play.

Pardy scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds and was 5 of 6 from the free throw line. Claudia Velasco yanked down 11 rebounds to go with her five points for the Red Tail Hawks (8-5, 2-1 MVL), while Ashton Petray put up seven points, three assists and four steals.

GRANTS PASS 58, THURSTON 22;  — At Grants Pass, Grants Pass won 10 of 14 matches — two were by forfeit — as the Cavemen pulled away with a big Southwest Conference victory.

James Jarrett pinned Justin Hambright in 13 seconds at the 220-pound level for the Cavemen, who pinned opponents in seven of their 10 victories.
