Prospect rallies for MVL victory
REDMOND — The Prospect boys basketball team turned things around in the second half on Saturday.
Central Christian led 29-21 at intermission, but the Cougars’ defense yielded just nine thereafter and Jarred Gaines and Prospect scorched the net for a 58-38 victory at Central Christian High.
Gaines scored 10 of his 18 points in the second half while teammates Roo Driskell and Charles Raines chipped in 13 and 12, respectively.
The Cougars improved to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in the Mountain Valley League.
ROGUE VALLEY ADVENTIST 43, TRINITY LUTHERAN 20: At Bend, Trevor Haugen’s 17 points and 13 rebounds helped navigate Rogue Valley Adventist to the win.
Nathan James added 15 points and Jared Cumbee came through with eight points and 11 assists for the Red Tail Hawks (11-7, 3-4 Mountain Valley League).
TRIAD 56, BUTTE FALLS 24: At Butte Falls, the Mountain Valley League’s top team Triad came out of gates strong and handed Butte Falls its second loss in as many nights.
The Loggers (1-17, 1-8 MVL) were led by Will Bateman’s six points and four rebounds, while Alex Cool-Hunsaker added five points and seven boards.
BUTTE FALLS 48, TRIAD 43: At Butte Falls, Shawna Creech posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to spark a balanced attack for Butte Falls.
Junior post Raleigh Weaver contributed nine points, seven blocks and 19 rebounds for the Loggers (10-8, 5-4 MVL).
Butte Falls also received eight points each from Katie Munsell and T'Neal Myers.
The game was tied 32-all entering the fourth quarter, then the Loggers outscored Triad (4-10, 3-4) 16-11 in the final period.
