North’s Westfall, Ragan sign with Western Nevada

North Medford pitchers Colton Westfall and Jordan Ragan both recently signed letters of intent to play baseball at Western Nevada College in Carson City, Nev.

Each was instrumental in helping the Black Tornado earn the 2014 Class 6A baseball state championship, with Westfall leading the Black Tornado in strikeouts (97), wins (13), and innings pitched (84) with an ERA of 1.58 while Ragan posted a 1.39 ERA in 40⅓ innings.

A four-year starter, the right-handed Westfall was a second-team all-state honoree and was the winning pitcher in the state title game over Sheldon. The left-handed Ragan was an honorable mention all-conference pitcher in his first season after transferring from Cascade Christian.

Western Nevada finished 40-18 record last season to secure its sixth straight season with 40 or more wins. The Wildcats also won their second straight Region 18 title and played in the Western District Tournament for a third straight season.
