Local seniors chosen for all-star events
A handful of local standouts have been selected to compete this weekend at baseball and basketball all-star events to cap off their high school careers.
North Medford baseball players Colton Westfall, Jordan Ragan, Josh Berman and Jared Evans have been chosen to compete on the South squad in the Reser’s Oregon All-Star Series in Corvallis.
The Black Tornado topped all high schools with four outgoing seniors picked to play in the annual series, which features Oregon’s top Class 6A and 5A seniors. The three-game series begins with a 7 p.m. game Saturday at Goss Stadium on the Oregon State University campus, followed by a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Sunday.

For the 43rd annual Oregon Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Series, South Medford’s Brayden Massey and Crater’s Race Reiter have been chosen for the State roster in the State-Metro clash, which features graduating senior standouts at the 6A and 5A levels.
Massey and Reiter’s State team will play a 5 p.m. Friday game against the Portland-area Metro squad at Northwest Christian University in Eugene, then square off again at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at Wilsonville High School.
Also competing in the series in the Class 4A/3A/2A category will be Cascade Christian’s Christian Kammerzell and Jason Wyncoop and Hidden Valley’s Michael Hults. The trio will play on the South roster and open at 8:15 p.m. Friday against the North squad at Northwest Christian University. Depending on the result, the South team will play at either 3:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. Saturday in Wilsonville.
Admission each day is $5 for adults, $4 for high school students, $2 for middle school students and $2 for senior citizens.
