HarbourCats push past Rogues

The Victoria HarbourCats downed the Medford Rogues, 6-4, during West Coast League action at Harry & David Field on Monday.

Tony Roque’s two-run single in the third inning drew the Rogues (13-18) even at 3-all.

After the HarbourCats (15-16) regained the lead in the top of the fourth, Medford was able to knot the score again, this time at 4-all on a fielder’s choice that scored Nathan Etheridge in the bottom of the frame.

It was as close as the Rogues would get after the HarbourCats took the lead for good with two more runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Billy Fredrick scored twice and went 2-for-4, as did Etheridge.

The Rogues — who’ve lost eight of their last 10 games — will get another shot in Game 2 of their three-game series with the HarbourCats today at 6:35 p.m. at Harry & David Field.
