Bobledo, Tovar help keep Eagles unbeaten
EAGLE POINT — Miguel Bobledo provided the Eagle Point boys soccer team with a cozy lead early and the defense did the rest to keep the Eagles undefeated Thursday.
Bobledo scored in the fourth minute and again in the 15th to guide the Eagles to a 5-0 nonleague victory over Hidden Valley.
Bobledo’s second goal was possible by the first of three assists by Sebastian Tovar. Tovar also set up Lucas Gomez’s score in the 36th minute and Kevin Van Dyke’s in the 60th minute.
Tovar added a goal of his own on an assist by Bobledo in the 25th minute.
The Eagles’ defense allowed just five shots on goal, all of which were stopped by goalkeeper Omar Escobedo.
Although he did not score, senior forward Emmanuel Escareno provided a spark for the Eagles (4-0), giving Hidden Valley defense all it could handle.
MAZAMA 5, CRATER 0: At Klamath Falls, Crater (0-4) wasn’t able to get its offense going, and Mazama took control with a 4-0 lead in the opening half.
HIDDEN VALLEY 4, EAGLE POINT 0: At Grants Pass, Hidden Valley won the nonconference contest at Erik Pipher Memorial Soccer Complex.
Courtney Hart scored twice for the Mustangs (2-1) and Bailey Hart scored and added an assist.
For the Eagles (1-2-2), defenders Krystal Van Dyke and Kylee Smith played well despite.
CRATER 2, MAZAMA 2: At Central Point, with six seconds remaining, Sydney Beck connected on a pass from Mikalah Wilson to help Crater (0-2-1) preserve a tie with nonconference foe Mazama.
The Vikings led 2-0 at halftime, but the Comets’ Emily McCollum sliced the lead in half on an assist from Wilson.
