Bumgardner, Tornado charge past Indians

Savannah Bumgardner had two goals and one assist as the North Medford girls soccer team defeated Roseburg, 3-1, during Southwest Conference play at U.S. Cellular Community Park on Tuesday.

Bumgardner scored in the 25th minute on an assist from Hayley Durant to put the Black Tornado (5-1-1, 3-0 SWC) on the scoreboard first. The Indians (3-4, 1-2) evened the score four minutes later.

Rylee Karrick's pass led to Bumgardner's second goal in the 45th minute.

Madi Morgan scored from 6 yards out on a Bumgardner assist in the 70th for North, which is tied for first place with Sheldon in the SWC standings. The Black Tornado has only allowed one goal in its three conference matches behind a strong defensive backline.

GRANTS PASS 3, SOUTH MEDFORD 2: At Grants Pass, Renae Nisbet and Hayle Mehl had goals for South Medford during Southwest Conference play.

Nisbet's goal came on a Montana Logue pass in the 28th minute. It evened the game at 1 before Grants Pass (2-4-1, 1-2) rattled off two quick scores to open the second half.

The Panthers dropped to 5-2 overall, 2-1 in league.

ASHLAND 5, CRATER 1: At Central Point, Ashland's Samantha Lilley recorded a pair of goals in the nonleague victory.

Hailee Hayes, Calysta Susu-Mago and Mya Elder-Hammond also had goals for the Grizzlies (4-0-3).

Jordan Peterson scored in the 68th minute on an Ally Ritchey assist for Crater (1-4-2).

SOUTH MEDFORD 3, GRANTS PASS 0: At Grants Pass, Kyle Owings had a hat trick to guide South Medford during Southwest Conference play.

The Panthers (3-1-2, 2-0-1 SWC) led 1-0 at halftime against Grants Pass (1-6, 0-3).

Diego Rodriguez, Patrick Maloney and Eric Peregrina had assists.

NORTH MEDFORD 2, ROSEBURG 1: At Roseburg, Skye Brownlow scored twice, including the go-ahead free kick in the 55th minute, for North Medford during Southwest Conference action.

Brownlow cashed in on a Luis Angel Cerna assist in the 20th minute to put the Black Tornado (3-3-1, 3-0 SWC) on the scoreboard first.

Miguel Ortiz-Rodriguez had a dominant performance at center back against Roseburg (2-5, 0-3).

ASHLAND 3, CRATER 0: At Ashland, Stenley Graham had two goals for Ashland during nonleague play.

Bowie Brandao scored the final goal for the Grizzlies (3-1-1).

Crater fell to 0-6.

BEND 7, EAGLE POINT 2: At Bend, Miguel Robledo netted two goals for Eagle Point during nonleague action.

Robledo scored in the 49th and 65th minutes for the Eagles (4-1). Kevin Van Dyke recorded an assist against Bend (4-1-1).
