Eagles rise for league triumph

EUGENE — The Eagle Point boys basketball team knocked down nine 3-pointers en route to a 66-56 victory over North Eugene in the Midwestern League opener on Saturday.

Zakk Scott scored 14 points and drained three 3-pointers, while Mario Reyes-Serna had 14 points and Mario Quintero 13 points for the Eagles (4-8, 1-0 MWL).

Eagle Point snapped a three-game losing skid.

The Eagles, who were 25 of 37 from the free-throw line, led 34-28 at halftime.

Devin Proudfit paced North Eugene (2-11, 0-1) with 12 points.

ROGUE RIVER 81, GOLD BEACH 46: At Rogue River, Chris Campbell had 25 points, nine steals and seven assists and Jordan Ehrhardt scored 17 points for Rogue River during nonleague action.

Rio Lopez added 14 points, Derek Pratt 13 points and 10 rebounds and Connor Strickland six points and 10 rebounds for the Chieftains (7-10).

Isaac Tiry recorded 10 points and Jimmy Kinyon 10 points and nine rebounds for the Loggers (2-6, 1-3 MVL), who led 33-18 at halftime against Paisley (2-7, 0-4).

TRIAD 52, PROSPECT 32: At Prospect, Wade May scored 16 points and Sean Derr added seven points and 17 rebounds for Prospect in the Mountain Valley League loss.

Prospect (4-9, 2-2 MVL) hindered its own cause by struggling from the field, shooting 6-for-38 from two-point range (16 percent) and 11-for-56 overall (20 percent).

RV ADVENTIST 54, CENTRAL CHRISTIAN 25: At Redmond, Nathaniel James scored 26 points with four 3-point makes for Rogue Valley Adventist during Mountain Valley League play.

Jared Cumbee had 10 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Red Tail Hawks (7-5, 3-1 MVL), who led 30-10 at halftime against Central Christian (2-5, 1-3).
