St. Mary’s remains unbeaten with rout
Coming off a big win over previously unbeaten Henley, the St. Mary’s baseball team didn’t rest on its laurels Wednesday and made quick work of Coquille, winning 15-5 in five innings at St. Mary’s High.
The Crusaders (10-0) jumped on Coquille for two runs in the first inning and then posted five runs in the second to pull away early en route to the nonconference victory.
“We just came off that big win over Henley and we worked hard not to have a letdown,” said St. Mary’s head coach Sean Gallagher. “Our bats are just red hot. We’re just stinging the ball and we just went right at them.”
Jose Perez was 4-for-4 with three runs, one RBI and three stolen bases, while Brady Robison went 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBIs and three stolen bases and Joe Johnson 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases to pace the Crusaders. Thys Kuitert also drove in two runs in the rout.
Ty Mulholland slipped out of his customary role as catcher to post the pitching victory, allowing two hits with one walk for two unearned runs in four innings.

ROGUE RIVER 14, PHOENIX 8: At Rogue River, Phoenix’s Taylor Wallack was 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI and Hannah Hague 2-for-4 with one RBI in the nonleague road loss.
Tiona Hurd was 2-for-4 with two runs and the Pirates (0-6) got a pair of RBIs from Ember Wolfe and Courtney Baker.
Marina Hall went 4-for-5 with two runs, Courtney Hardy 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Elly Moulder 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI for Rogue River (3-6).
