Chieftains sweep Lakeview on road
CAVE JUNCTION — Elly Moulder’s two-run double highlighted Rogue River’s eight-run first inning of Game 2 as the Chieftains polished off the softball regular season with a sweep, winning 9-5 and 16-2 over Illinois Valley during Southern Cascade League play on Saturday.
Moulder drove in three runs, Rosie Valencia hit two doubles and Courtney Hardy was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the second contest for the Chieftains (13-8, 7-2 SCL), who drew 18 walks as a team.
In the opener, Marina Hall went 3-for-5, while Kobie Gibson, Alyssa Sands and Molly Cullotta all had two hits and an RBI.

MARIST 15-14, ASHLAND 0-0: At Ashland, Gianna Pippa-Baker got Ashland’s only hit in the Midwestern League doubleheader loss at North Mountain Park.
Pippa-Baker singled with one out in the fifth inning of the opener.
Marist freshman Ariel Carlson tossed the no-hitter in Game 2 and also hit a three-run homer in the first inning. Carlson struck out 12 and walked two.
Ashland finished the season 1-17 in the MWL and 2-20 overall, while Marist completed the year in second place in league at 15-3 and posted a 22-4 record overall.
