Glencoe ousts GP with big inning

HILLSBORO — Glencoe erupted for six runs in the fourth inning, with the help of a three-run error, and moved on to the Class 6A state championship softball game with a 10-1 semifinal win over Grants Pass Tuesday at Glencoe High.

The Crimson Tide (23-8) will meet Jesuit, a 3-2 winner over North Medford in eight innings, in the title game Saturday.

There were two outs in the fourth inning when Glencoe's Jensen Becker hit a solo home run to make it 3-1. But the Tide tacked on five more in the inning before the Cavers, who had five errors in the game, could get the final out.

Glencoe's Isabel Womack limited Grants Pass (18-12) to three hits, singles by Skylar Padgett, Haley Dougherty and Marissa Eilenberger.

Dougherty's hit scored Dalenna Bellum with the Cavers' run in the second inning.

Morgan DeBord had two hits to pace Glencoe. She and Macy Besuyen each scored three runs.
