Moore, Lethlean make all-state first team
South Medford pitcher Pat Moore and North Medford outfielder Olivia Lethlean were chosen to the Class 6A all-state softball first team.
Moore pitched the Panthers into the second round of the state playoffs while going 20-8. In 178 innings, she struck out 387 batters, allowed 59 hits and walked 92. The junior passed the 1,000 mark for career strikeouts this season.
Lethlean, also a junior, sparked a Black Tornado squad that made it to the state semifinals. She batted .419 with 44 hits, 19 RBIs and a team-best 35 runs. Lethlean added 29 stolen bases.
Second-team selections for North Medford were senior pitcher Sarah Thomas and junior infielder Taelor Mayben.
The Black Tornado's Tra Kucera, a senior catcher, and Ashley Ripplinger, a junior infielder, made the third team, as did Grants Pass senior outfielder Delenna Bellum.
Westview's Abby Greer was pitcher of the year, Glencoe's Macy Besuyen was the top player and Jesuit's Jim Speciale earned coaching honors.
