Crusader boys rout Lakeview

The St. Mary's boys soccer team won its fourth straight match by routing Lakeview, 14-0, during District 5 play at U.S. Cellular Community Park on Saturday.

Junior forward Weston Grant went for a hat trick and Ryan Pitcher, Preston Jernigan, Andrew Michels and Lucas Fry each recorded two goals for the Crusaders (4-1, 2-0 Dist. 5).

Max Lewis and Liam Duncan also scored and an own goal rounded out the offensive summary for St. Mary's, which led 8-0 at halftime.

"I was pleased with how well the boys controlled the ball," St. Mary's head coach Eric Pyka said. "They demonstrated a lot of ball control."

Goalkeeper Ryan Trask made three saves against the Honkers (0-3, 0-2), giving him 22 on the season.

GRANTS PASS 1, ROSEBURG 0: At Roseburg, Conner Cubic scored on a 20-yard direct kick in the 25th minute for Grants Pass (2-2, 1-1 SWC) and the backline of goalie Tiegen Brown and defenders Parker Lauffenburger, Steven Willy, Kevin Huerta and Kenny Burton made that hold up.

CRATER 3, MARSHFIELD 0: At Coos Bay, Drake Souza, Ben Cranston and Oziel Aguirre all scored individual goals for Crater (2-1) in the nonconference shutout.

ROGUE RIVER 5, CANYONVILLE CHRISTIAN 0: At Canyonville, Gavin Decker scored three goals to propel Rogue River in the District 5 match.

Thiago Veloso and Garren Decker also scored for the Chieftains (3-0, 2-0 Dist. 5).


ROSEBURG 2, GRANTS PASS 1: At Roseburg, Roseburg scored goals in the 50th and 65th minutes to rally for the Southwest Conference win.

Kylie Dillon scored for Grants Pass (1-3, 0-2 SWC) midway through the first half on an assist from Elizabeth Williams.

CRATER 8, MARSHFIELD 0: At Coos Bay, Emily Brock recorded a hat trick for Crater in the nonleague win.

Ally Ritchey and Jordan Peterson both had two goals and Hunter Ironside also scored for the Comets (2-1-1), who led 2-0 at halftime against Marshfield (0-3). Gracen Hokanson added two assists.

KLAMATH UNION 1, EAGLE POINT 0: At Eagle Point, Klamath Union eked out the nonleague match to improve to 1-1.

Eagle Point dropped to 0-3.

ST. MARY’S 5, WESTERN MENNONITE 0: Goalie Adrien Birmingham pitched a shutout and St. Mary’s (2-3) got goals from Ibixica Alvarez, Anna Peterson, Maddie Wheelock, Gabi Castillo and Megan Michels in the nonleague win.

CATLIN GABEL 6, CASCADE CHRISTIAN 1: At Beaverton, Jenna Worthington scored in the 73rd minute on an Emily Stephens assist for Cascade Christian during nonleague play.

Annika Holliday tallied two goals for Catlin Gabel (5-0), which led 4-0 at halftime.

The Eagles scored two goals on penalty kicks and two more on own goals against the Challengers (2-1). Worthington's goal was the first tallied against Catlin Gabel this year.

ROGUE RIVER 8, CRATER JV 0: At Rogue River, sophomore Andee Morehead scored six goals and had a hat trick at the 35-minute mark for Rogue River in the nonleague season opener.

Skylar Andrews and Jaydin Spaeth also scored for the Chieftains (1-0), who led 5-0 at halftime.
