Pirates ride Juarez-Flores’ hat trick

KLAMATH FALLS — Henley struck first but Rocendo Juarez-Flores took things from there with a hat trick and a pair of assists as the Phoenix boys soccer team ran away with a 5-1 Skyline Conference victory Monday at Henley High.

Juarez-Flores tied the score 1-all with goal in the 24th minute and assisted Gustavo Pinon’s go-ahead goal in the 40th minute.

Juarez-Flores padded the lead with his second goal in the 59th minute and netted his third goal with two minutes remaining.

Luis Ascencion scored on a Juarez-Flores assist for the Pirates (4-2, 3-0 Skyline), who host undefeated Mazama on Thursday.

Henley’s Josh Ledgerwood scored in the eighth minute.

Girls Soccer

HENLEY 2, PHOENIX 1: At Talent, Avery Renaeu put Phoenix on the scoreboard in the final 10 minutes but it wasn't enough in Skyline Conference play at Colver Field.

The Pirates (2-4, 0-3 Skyline) received 10 saves from Faith Moody, limiting the Hornets (3-3-1, 1-1-1) to two second-half goals.
