Shasta runs by North
REDDING, Calif. — Shasta High scored 27 straight points in the second quarter to pull away from North Medford and claim a 69-39 nonleague football victory late Saturday night.
Josh Robbins connected with Tyler Evans for a pair of touchdown passes to help the Black Tornado (0-2) build an early 21-14 advantage, but North Medford’s struggles to slow Shasta’s dynamic running game led to a big surge by the Wolves.
Buoyed by the running of Seth Park and Vinny Smith, Shasta (3-0) broke the game open after eclipsing 200 yards rushing in the first half to build a 48-21 cushion.
North Medford tried to get back into the contest in the third quarter as Robbins found Eli Spence for a pair of touchdown passes but the Wolves kept answering in their own right in a game moved from Medford due to poor air conditions.
SUMMIT 46, ASHLAND 0: At Lakeview, Ashland dropped to 1-1 in nonconference play with the shutout loss to Summit (1-1) in a rematch of 2015 state finalists.
