Ditty, Shenk head South USA Today stars

Four members of the South Medford football team were recently named by USA Today High School Sports to the 2017 American Family Insurance All-USA Oregon Football Team.

Senior offensive linemen Brandon Ditty and Daniel Shenk both were named to the first team on offense, while senior receiver Chase Cota was a second-team selection on offense and senior linebacker Jaylin Parnell a second-team pick on defense.

Ditty, 5-foot-10 and 230 pounds, and Shenk, 5-8 and 180, were key cogs on a South Medford offense that averaged 389 yards per game, about 225 of it rushing yardage, and put up 42 points per game.

They also helped pave the way for Parnell as a running back, who gained more than 1,400 yards on the ground and had 24 rushing touchdowns.

Cota, who received a full scholarship to attend UCLA, had more than 800 yards receiving on 50 catches with 13 touchdowns receptions.

Parnell led the Panthers in tackles.
