Challengers fall in bottom of seventh
Yreka scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh inning, spoiling Cascade Christian’s near comeback with a 6-5 victory in nonleague prep baseball action Wednesday at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
The Challengers (0-2) rallied from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game in the top of the seventh when senior Joel McLemore, who went 2-for-3 with a triple, came all the way around from second base on an error.
McLemore, Jadon Rullamas and Declan Payne had two hits apiece for the Challengers, with Rullamas driving in two and Payne smacking a double.
In the bottom of the seventh, Yreka’s leadoff hitter roped a double to put the tying run in scoring position and scored when a sacrifice bunt attempt led to a wild throw into right field.
