South boys, North girls earn SWC wins

North Medford’s Kaison Faust was impressive but South Medford’s boys track and field team simply had too much for the Black Tornado on Wednesday in Southwest Conference action between the crosstown rivals at South Medford High.

Faust won four individual events for North Medford but South Medford got a pair of victories by Trent Snyder in the shot put and javelin and used solid depth to topple the Tornado, 83-62.

The girls meet saw North Medford dominate the field events, with two wins by Jaida Ross, to overcome the Panthers, 80-64.

Faust won the 100 in 11.36 seconds and added the 200 (23.00) to his victory column before later winning the long jump in 22 feet, 1 inch and the triple jump in 44-2 1/4.

Snyder set a personal record in the javelin at 167-8 and won the shot put in 47-6 1/4.

South Medford’s boys also got wins from Peyton Shipley (400), Luke Ramirez (1,500), Tanner Sayers (3,000), Blaine Johnson (110 hurdles), Cole Boster (discus) and Arturo Veloz (high jump) to earn the win.

For North Medford’s boys, Turner Nye claimed two events by winning the 300 hurdles in 42.62 and the pole vault (12-0), while Jacob Allmaras (800) won the 800.

Ross went 128-11 in the discus to back up her winning mark of 39-8 1/2 in the shot put. Also winning events for the Tornado girls were Claire Ebert (800), VIctoria Messer (1,500), Kamaile Kaeo (javelin), Skyler Artale (high jump), Jane Ersepke (long jump) and M.J. Hamilton (triple jump).

For South Medford’s girls, Morgan Burke swept the 100 and 300 hurdles events. Also winning for the Panthers were Jayda Willis (100), Toni Coleman (200), Emma Schmerbach (400), Gabi Wisnovsky (1,500) and Kit Lance (pole vault).
