Two North Medford players make SWC first team

Two North Medford volleyball players, Kyleigh Lopez and Lauren Barry, have been chosen to the first team in Southwest Conference all-league voting by the coaches.

Lopez, a senior, was the setter, while Barry was a junior hitter. They helped the Black Tornado to a 5-5 record and fourth place in the conference. It finished with a 17-12 record following a first-round state-playoff loss to Lake Oswego Wednesday.

North Medford senior libero Ella Ivens and Grants Pass junior hitter Devin Ireland made the second team.

Sheldon’s Mackenzy Borek was player of the year, and South Eugene’s Alicia Chamness was honored as the top coach.
