PREP SOFTBALL: Shopp's bid day leads EP to MWL sweep

EAGLE POINT — Riley Shopp hit three home runs on the day and drove in seven runs to lead Eagle Point to the Midwestern League sweep over North Bend, 10-5 and 14-4, Saturday at Eagle Point High School.

Shopp went 4-for-4 with two homers, two doubles and six RBIs in the opener and 2-for-2 with three runs and another homer — her fifth of the season — in the nightcap, as the Eagles (6-3, 4-0 MWL) needed just five innings to finish the mercy rule-shortened second game.

In the opener, Eagle Point’s Coleen Thompson went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Areona Conte added two hits, including a double.

Eagle Point stayed hot in the second game, as Chloe Hurst went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs and Jayci Pugh 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and four RBIs.

Shopp also picked up two wins in the circle to improve to 5-3 for the Eagles, who have won four of their last five.

North Bend (3-8, 2-4) was led by Kait Randle, who homered in each game.
