PREP TENNIS: South Medford girls, boys sweep North Medford

South Medford’s girls tennis team flexed its muscles at the expense of cross-town rival North Medford on Tuesday, sweeping the Black Tornado for an 8-0 Southwest Conference triumph at South Medford High.

South Medford’s Ariana Watson outlasted North Medford’s Grace Bryan at No. 1 singles as one of the day’s highlights, with Watson winning 6-4, 6-2 in a singles round that saw the Panthers give up only 11 games in four matches.

In doubles, South’s Jill Rosie Holt and Eve Von Strahl combined to edge Ava Parducci and Aubrey Sandler, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 1 spot.

Boys

SOUTH MEDFORD 3, NORTH MEDFORD 0: South Medford’s Gus Perreia and Bryce Fox combined to lose just one game in winning both singles matches in the Southwest Conference contest at North Medford High.

In doubles, Seth Parks and Jacob Keller of South Medford cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Casey Haggins and Robert Dozier.

The Black Tornado had just four players available for the conference match.
