Locals honored at OACA awards banquet

Several local high school coaches, officials and contributors were honored at the annual Oregon Athletic Coaches Association awards banquet Saturday in Eugene.

Head coaches celebrated for state championship seasons in 2018-19 were Crater’s Jay Campbell for 5A baseball, Crater’s Justin Loftus for 5A boys cross country and St. Mary’s Kevin Klabunde for 4A/3A/2A/1A girls golf.

Tyler Davis of Phoenix was recognized as an assistant coach of the year.

Mike Baker of the Rogue Valley Football Officials Association earned official of the year accolades.

B.G. Gould, a longtime statistician and game manager for the Medford School District, was recognized for community service.

Grants Pass girls cross country coach Stan Goodell was honored as national coach of the year as selected by the National Federation of High Schools.
