PREP VOLLEYBALL: Big rally lifts Butte Falls to victory
CAVE JUNCTION — Butte Falls rallied after losing the first two sets, winning the Southern Cascade League match 25-27, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-12.
Ellie Columbus had 26 digs, 10 kills, 16 service points with six aces and and four blocks for the Loggers (4-3, 1-1 SCL).
Lucia Damiana and Rocky Scott each had 24 digs, and Damiana and Kassi Hines had five kills each. Hines and Grace Beaver notched 17 service points, and Beaver had three aces.
SOUTH MEDFORD 3, EAGLE POINT 1: South Medford rolled to its sixth win against only one loss in the nonconference match, winning 25-14, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18.
Alondra Picasso, a reserve setter, sparked the offense for the Panthers with solid serving. Maisen Wauge and Alana Jeannot topped South Medford in aces.
Tes Wente and Katie Clevenger were the team leaders in kills.
For Eagle Point (1-6), Kierssa Hogan had 21 assists, three kills, four digs and an ace; Andrea Flores tallied seven kills, a block, 15 digs and an ace; and Kacy Whtiman had six kills.
CRATER 3, HENLEY 1: At Klamath Falls, Crater used 10 kills and 14 digs from Madison Kocina to fight off a feisty Henley squad in a 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 26-24 nonconference victory.
Tessa Frodge registered nine kills and 13 digs for the Comets (4-2), who received 26 assists from freshman Kate Stidham.
Defensively, Kylie Anderson piled up 30 digs and freshman Kendra Bittle added six blocks.
CASCADE CHRISTIAN 3, MAZAMA 0: Hannah Stanfield posted nine kills, two blocks and a pair of aces to help guide host Cascade Christian past Mazama.
The Challengers’ Olivia Borg and Kara Palmer added eight kills apiece, and Borg also chipped in four aces.
Junior setter Taylor Cave racked up 19 assists and four aces for the Challengers (3-1).
HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 3, PROSPECT 0: At Klamath Falls, host Hosanna Christian got the best of Prospect in the Mountain Valley League match-up, 25-17, 25-15, 25-14.
The Cougars dropped to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in MVL play.
