Challengers' Cave selected FWL's top setter

Cascade Christian junior Taylor Cave was chosen setter of the year in all-league voting by the Far West League volleyball coaches.

Cave was a repeat selection on the first team.

For the season, Cave had 547 assists, 54 aces and 23 blocks.

She was joined on the first team by teammates Hannah Stanfield, a junior, and Janie Kenaston, also a junior.

For St. Mary’s, senior Natalie Thickett made the first unit.

Sutherlin’s Alyssa Fox was player of the year, and South Umpqua’s Shalyn Gray was defensive player of the year. Coaching honors went to Sutherlin’s Kathy Rice.
