Ashland wrestlers fall prey to Mustangs

MURPHY — Ashland secured three pins and one forfeit but that wasn’t enough to slow Hidden Valley’s wrestling team Wednesday as the host Mustangs cruised to a 53-24 nonconference triumph.

After Hidden Valley posted three pins and one technical fall victory in the first four matches, Ashland’s Jack Bauer finally broke the string for his team with a pin of James Elmore in 4 minutes, 57 seconds at 195 pounds.

William Hackett received a forfeit at 220 for the Grizzlies before Ashland managed another win on the mat on a 53-second pin by Luke Cook over Ryan Hubbard at 113.

Ashland closed its scoring at 132 when Ashur King pinned Dominick Macaruso in 2:53.

RV ADVENTIST 50, MILO ADVENTIST 33: Rogue Valley Adventist senior Isaiah Christensen tallied 13 points, six assists and four rebounds to lead his team to the nonleague home victory.

Alex Wiggers, a 6-foot-2 junior, added 12 points and six rebounds and junior Caleb Jackson had eight points, six rebounds and two assists to pace the Red Tail Hawks (2-1), who led Milo Adventist (0-3) 26-14 at halftime despite getting off to a slow start.

Girls Basketball

RV ADVENTIST 69, MILO ADVENTIST 15: Rogue Valley Adventist was dialed in from the field, knocking down 29 of 53 shots from two-point range (55 percent) and 32-for-62 overall (52 percent) to secure the nonleague victory at home.

Junior guard Madelyn Bennett led the Red Tail Hawks (2-1) with 21 points and six assists, while senior Paris Quave had 15 points and four assists and freshman Emma Bishoff added 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Rogue Valley Adventist built a 47-9 lead by halftime against Milo Adventist (0-3).
