PREP BASKETBALL: RVA wins playoff, top seed to state

BEND — Rogue Valley Adventist earned the Mountain Valley League’s No. 1 berth to the Class 1A girls state basketball playoffs with a 39-18 win over Paisley Saturday at Trinity Lutheran.

It’s the second straight season RVA earned the top seed to state.

The Red Tail Hawks captured the regular season title with a 17-1 record, while Paisley placed third prior to the league playoffs.

The Red Tail Hawks (21-3 overall) will play a home playoff game next Saturday. A win sends them to the state tournament.

Emma Bishoff paced RVA with 15 points and six rebounds, and Madelyn Bennett had 10 points and three assists. Paris Quave chipped in six points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Boys

NORTH BEND 55, EAGLE POINT 33: At North Bend, North Bend built an early lead and kept Eagle Point at bay in the Midwestern League game Friday.

Eagle Point fell to 1-21 overall and 1-12 in the MWL. North Bend is 4-17 and 2-12.

Logan Esquibel scored 15 points to pace the Eagles.

Garrison Mateski had 18 points for North Bend.
