Phoenix High Turf-A-Thon set for Friday night

Continuing a recent fundraising effort for artificial turf at Jack Woodward Stadium, the Phoenix-Talent Rising Field Turf-A-Thon will be live-streamed on tablerocksports.net from 5-9 p.m. Friday, co-hosted by Neill Carvalho and Dave Ehrhardt.

Carvalho, a longtime teacher, coach and former athletic director at Phoenix High School, will join current AD and assistant principal Ehrhardt in interviewing school district members on topics that include the district’s recovery in the wake of the Almeda Fire, the need to get students back to in-person instruction, the importance of extra-curricular activities for students and how an all-weather playing surface will benefit the school district.

The group is hoping to raise $700,000 for the project, with work potentially beginning as early as January for a completion date of mid-February.

Donations toward the field project will be taken during and after the event by calling 541-973-1521 or 541-531-6822 to make a pledge and pay with a credit card, or by sending a check to P-T Rising Field, P.O. Box 697, Phoenix, OR, 97535.

Electronic donations may also be made online at getmeregistered.com/PTRisingField
