Eagle Point adds football game at Springfield
In quick fashion, Eagle Point High School has picked up a varsity football game at Springfield for Friday’s season opener, Eagles athletic director Kacey McNulty confirmed Tuesday evening.
That move comes on the heels of Eagle Point having its previously scheduled game against Roseburg canceled this past Sunday after Roseburg announced it had a positive COVID case.
A similar situation popped up for Springfield, where the Millers were originally slated to face Sheldon Friday but that game was also canceled due to a COVID situation at Sheldon, according to McNulty.
Pouncing on the news that Eagle Point might be able to fill the void in its schedule, McNulty reached out Tuesday and the schools were able to finalize plans to ensure neither school would go without playing in the first of six available weeks this spring.
Kickoff for the game is planned for 7 p.m. at Springfield High.
