Prep Roundup: North netters sweep Grants Pass
GRANTS PASS — North Medford finished the Southern Oregon Conference volleyball regular season with a 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Grant Pass on Monday.
Bracketing for a postseason tournament will be revealed today, with play wrapping up Friday and Saturday to determine an SOC champion.
Catherine Rostel recorded 12 kills, three aces and 17 digs to the pace the Black Tornado, which went 8-2 in conference.
Sara Hamlin garnered 19 digs, and setters Pa’oa Payne-Kaeo and Matlyn Leetch split time, recording 12 and 11 assists, respectively. Emelia Thiring added two blocks.
SOUTH MEDFORD 3, ASHLAND 1: At Ashland, South Medford improved its Southern Oregon Conference record to 8-2 with a 25-11, 25-17, 12-25, 25-23 victory.
The Panthers dropped Ashland to 2-6 behind Katie Clevenger’s 12 kills and three aces and Evelyn Laupola’s eight kills and five blocks.
Tes Wente added eight kills and four blocks and Kiya Jackson seven kills and three blocks. Amanda Drane notched 16 digs.
ROSEBURG 3, EAGLE POINT 0: At Roseburg, Roseburg eased to a 25-9, 25-13, 25-16 victory over Eagle Point.
Lily Bixler led the Eagles with four kills and two digs, and Kierssa Hogan added three kills, nine assists, two digs and a block.
Briana Aguilar contributed seven digs.
DAYTON 6, CASCADE CHRISTIAN 0: At Pleasant Hill, Cascade Christian’s season came to an end in the Class 3A quarterfinals.
The Challengers held tough in the first half, forging a scoreless deadlock, but Dayton broke loose in the second half.
Cascade Christian finished the season with an 8-2 record.
Dayton (8-3) next faces Newport/Eddyville.
