PREP VOLLEYBALL: Challengers storm into 3A tourney semis
PLEASANT HILL — The Cascade Christian volleyball team entered its culminating week without a loss to its record, flexing plenty of muscle during an impressive run through the spring’s regular season.
Following Wednesday night’s postseason opener, there’s still a zero in the loss column.
Thanks to setting an early tone and using a balanced attack on offense, Cascade Christian was able to roll to a straight-set victory over Harrisburg, 25-13, 25-14, 25-18, in quarterfinals of the Class 3A culminating week tournament at Pleasant Hill High School.
“I thought we just did a great job of ball control,” Cascade Christian head coach Rob Kleker said. “We were able to put the ball where we wanted to on offense, we had some great kills from our middles and then our outsides just kept them honest. It all started with ball control and serve receive on defense.”
The Challengers (14-0) will face Clatskanie (9-4) in the semifinal round Saturday afternoon. All remaining matches will be played at Creswell High School.
Senior Ania Farmer finished with a team-high 11 kills and four aces to lead the way for the Challengers. Fellow senior Hannah Stanfield added nine kills and three aces.
Janie Kenaston and Kata Palmer both had six kills, while senior setter Taylor Cave recorded 31 assists.
Harrisburg finishes the season with a 7-7 record.
