PREP ROUNDUP: Challengers’ Willard spins no-hitter in 2-0 win
Cascade Christian senior softball pitcher Katelyn Willard dazzled in the circle, throwing a no-hitter to defeat Brookings-Harbor, 2-0, Tuesday at U.S. Cellular Community Park.
Willard struck out 15 batters and walked one.
She also knocked in both of the runs for the Challengers (4-0) with a two-run single to left field in the bottom of the first.
Willard got a handful of nice defensive plays to keep the no-hitter intact from Kara Palmer at third base and in right field from Calie Sweem, who made a running catch on a blooper in the top of the fifth.
Zoie Fisher and Ali Modrell each had one of Cascade Christian’s five hits and each scored on Willard’s siingle. McKenizie Bonner and Neha Joseph also had hits for the Challengers.
