Challengers pace FWL all-star squads
Cascade Christian led the way in all-league voting by Far West League football coaches, with eight players landing on the unit.
The Challengers went 5-0, culminating the season with a 13-10 victory over reigning state champion Santiam Christian.
Cascade Christian seniors named to the 29-member all-star team were running back/defensive back Kristian Fralich, wide receiver/defensive back Matt McPheeters, offensive lineman/linebacker Christian Brehm, quarterback Sam Martin and wide reciever Will Pierson.
Challenger juniors to make the team were offensive lineman/defensive end Bryson Cannon, tight end/linebacker Austin Waits and offensive lineman/defensive lineman John Daly.
Only one all-league team was designated.
Volleyball
Cascade Christian placed four players on the Far West League all-star team in a vote of the coaches.
Senior outside hitters Hannah Stanfield and Janie Kenaston, senior middle blocker Ania Farmer and senior setter Taylor Cave were selected from the Challengers, who went 15-1, the lone loss coming in the Class 3A finals.
St. Mary’s sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Dunn was also chosen as an all-star.
Only one all-league team was designated.
