PREP ROUNDUP: Eagle Point posts four victories

EAGLE POINT — The Eagle Point wrestling team picked up a quartet of wins in convincing fashion at its home tournament Saturday.

Eagle Point claimed wins over all four of the other teams at the event — Phoenix, Klamath Union, Mazama and North Valley.

Eagle Point’s Diego De La Cruz, at the 113-pound weight class, picked up four wins on the day, as did teammates Luke Callahan (126 pounds), Noe Cortez (132 pounds), Dylan Dahling (152 pounds) and Brandon Hammer (195 pounds).

CRATER 4 WAY: At Central Point, Crater pulled away for a win over Redmond to cap a successful night at its home four-way tournament.

Crater first recorded a convincing win over Henley, dropping just one matchup in the process. The Comets then won six of the last seven bouts to claim the 45-25 win over Redmond.

Crater’s Ayden Tazioli, Ryan Hill, Matthew Bolanos, Angel Perez, Kabb Christensen, Brayden Gray, Joseph Jordahl and Gabriel Williams all recorded two wins on the day.

SKYLINE INVITATIONAL: At Grants Pass, Phoenix’s Sophia Stubblefield was the lone Pirate to pick up a win at the event hosted by Hidden Valley.

Stubblefield recorded a narrow win in the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 33.21 seconds, three-tenths of a second ahead of Isa Coffman of Klamath Union in second place.

She also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:23.37 and was part of Phoenix’s 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed second behind Klamath Union.

Phoenix’s Heidi Taylor, who was also part of the freestyle relay team, placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:16.07.

On the boys side, Phoenix’s Nate Wood finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.93.
