PREP BASKETBALL: South, North romp in SWC finales

Already with the Southwest Conference boys basketball title in hand and in deference to senior day, the sixth-ranked South Medford Panthers mixed it up a little when it came to their lineup Saturday against visiting Sheldon.

The change in rotation mattered little as the Panthers saw four players score in double figures — and two others come close — in a 76-36 runaway win to wrap up the regular season.

Seniors Devon Malcolm (14 points), Junior Sleezer (12) and Gabe Adams (10) were joined by sophomore Jackson Weiland (11) in leading the charge for South Medford (21-2, 10-0 SWC).

Senior Mike Adee knocked down three 3-pointers for his nine points and freshman Boden Howell added eight points for the Panthers, who opened a 44-15 lead by halftime.

South Medford will take a 15-game winning streak into the Class 6A state playoffs, which begin Tuesday. The Panthers will be the No. 4 seed overall in the 32-team bracket.

Freshman Rocco Graziano led Sheldon (7-17, 1-9) with nine points and junior Luke Leighton scored eight.
