PREP TENNIS: North nets top singles wins against GP
The path was a little easier for one than the other but North Medford’s top two singles players were able to secure the lone girls tennis victories for the Black Tornado in Southwest Conference action Tuesday.
North Medford seniors Molly Milligan and Jade Yang led the charge on their home court, with Milligan winning a nail-biter at No. 1 singles while Yang did not give up a single game in the No. 2 spot during an overall 6-2 loss to Grants Pass.
Milligan battled to a 6-4 win in the opening set against Allie Rist of Grants Pass, who then tied the match with a 7-6 win in the second set. In the third set, Milligan was able to secure a 10-8 triumph.
Yang won 6-0, 6-0 over the Cavers’ Alyssa Jarred.
At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Paige Pastrell and Elise Gattey of Grants Pass was able to fend off Hadley Dunlevy and Shelly Chung, 6-4, 7-5.

SOUTH MEDFORD 8, ROSEBURG 0: At Roseburg, South Medford’s singles quartet gave up only a combined seven games in straight-set SWC victories.
Reese Andersen, Metali Mahar, Elena Hill and Aviana Dionisio paved the way for the Panthers in the road sweep.
South Medford’s No. 1 singles tandem of Emerie Doell and Sarah McAllister battled back from a 6-0 loss in their first set to win 0-6, 6-4, 10-6 in a dramatic comeback over Krissy Wattman and Kennedy Baylis Hines of Roseburg.

SOUTH MEDFORD 8, ROSEBURG 0: Stephen Wisnovsky and Andrean Gurov paved the way in the top two singles spots as South Medford swept Roseburg in SWC action at South Medford High.
Wisnovsky earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Max Falleni, while Gurov posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Peyton Seal to highlight a dominant effort by the Panthers.

North Medford’s No. 1 doubles team of Robert Doshier and Brian Biliauca put forth a strong effort but fell short, 7-5, 6-3, against Parker Pastrell and Noah Horban.
