Wood sets franchise points record in win
Spartans captain Mackenzie Wood became Southern Oregon's points record holder during the team's 10-2 victory over the Whitefish Wolverines at The RRRink on Sunday.
He set the franchise record of 102 points with a light-touch goal early in the third period. Wood's record-tying point came during a power play late in the second period off an assist to Billy Saxton.
Wood, who leads the Western States Hockey League in scoring, finished with three goals and two assists.
"I don't think it's sunk in yet," Wood said. "I've been taking it game by game and not worrying too much about my personal points as much as how the team did."
Nick Pagliacci contributed two goals for the Spartans, who completed a three-game sweep with the victory.
Goalkeeper Tyman Edelkoort III made 30 saves for Southern Oregon, which will close out the regular season with home matches on Friday and Saturday against first-place Idaho.
