Spartans cruise to playoff victory

Six different Spartans scored as Southern Oregon rolled to an 8-3 victory over Seattle during Western States Hockey League playoff action at The RRRink on Friday.

The Spartans can close out the best-of-three series tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Southern Oregon had defeated Seattle in all nine of their regular-season meetings.

The Spartans’ Mackenzie Wood recorded two goals and recorded two assists, while Johan Lovestrum, Cy Jenson, Doug Gutierrez, Nick Pagliacci and Logan Meyers also scored.

Gutierrez added three assists.

Adam Alfoldy, Marek Nemec and August Cnattingius had the Totems’ goals.

Southern Oregon goalkeeper Reed Kinsey made 24 saves.

Seattle recorded a mere two penalty minutes on one infraction, as did the Spartans.

Southern Oregon — which built a 3-0 lead to begin the match and never trailed — outshot Seattle, 54-27.
