Spartans sweep Totems in playoffs
Cameron Cross had the go-ahead goal as the Southern Oregon Spartans edged the Seattle Totems, 2-1, to sweep their Western States Hockey League divisional quarterfinal series at The RRRink on Saturday night.
Southern Oregon won Game 1 of the best-of-three series, 4-2, on Friday. The local squad will next play in the divisional semifinals.
Cross scored with 2 minutes, 22 seconds left in the second period on assists from Brody Surette and Jan Kerekanic.
Cy Jenson evened the match at 1 for the Spartans at the 11:29 mark in the second.
Southern Oregon (33-19) outshot the Totems (13-39), 43-25.
