Boothe wins Firehouse Run

JACKSONVILLE — Dick Boothe captured the 15th annual 10-kilometer Britt Woods Firehouse Run Saturday.

Boothe, a 66-year-old Cave Junction resident, was the first of 99 runners to cross the finish line on the winding woodlands course around the Britt Festival grounds.

The event, a fundraiser for Jacksonville Engine Company No. 1, is handicap run which features staggered start times depending on age and gender.

Boothe, the runner-up to Drew Jordan last year, posted a time of 59 minutes in light rain.

Anne Carter, 53, of Medford, was second and Bruce Stowell, 62, of Grants Pass was third.

Medford’s Kyle Carson posted the fastest men’s time (43:11) and Shannon Schiavone of Grants Pass registered the top female mark (51:28).
