Reader has good memory
I read the story about the potential removal of Talent City Councilman E.J. McManus in Thursday's Mail Tribune. In the article, former Councilman Dan Goyette said McManus should step down because he exhibited poor judgment by driving drunk and participating in certain council actions. Isn't this the same Goyette who is facing some sort of child pornography charges?

Good memory, good eye, good question, Lynne.
Court records show Dan Goyette has a pretrial hearing slated for Feb. 27 to answer charges the former Talent City Councilman and Downtowne Coffee House owner allegedly attempted to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.
Goyette was arrested Aug. 31, 2011, on the felony charge. He has entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
Goyette was arrested at the Medford airport on a warrant charging him with attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. The warrant was issued after a Jackson County grand jury indicted him Aug. 24.
Ashland Police Department Deputy Chief Corey Falls said his agency had been investigating Goyette since Aug. 5, but he declined to give further details on the case, including the age of the victim. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $20,000 bail, but posted bail and was released.
Goyette was elected to a four-year term in November 2011. He resigned in early September.
