No trial date yet for alleged animal abuser
What is the status of Alice Violet Taylor, whose actions (allegedly) killed those dogs in Chiloquin back in June? Has she had a trial yet?
— John, via email
According to court records, she hasn't had a trial yet, John.
Just to remind others who may not remember, Taylor, of Eagle Point, was charged with six counts of first-degree animal abuse for leaving her three rotweillers in her truck for several hours on June 2 while she was inside Melita's Restaurant, located in the 39000 block of Highway 97 in Chiloquin. The dogs died from overheating. Passersby attempted to revive them after breaking into the truck, to no avail.
Court records show Taylor has a pretrial conference scheduled for Nov. 25, but a date for a trial has not been set. Thus far during the process, she has failed to appear for certain court dates and had three more dogs seized from her.
