Questions for our dining-savvy readers
Well, dear readers, many of you came through with insights on the famous pink sauce at Kim's restaurant — so many in fact that you've prompted more dining questions that require your expertise. Following are the questions. If you have answers, send them to email@example.com or the other options listed at the end of this column. The writers thank you in advance and we do, too.
Does anyone have a recipe for the sauce used on "Juicy Jumbo" hamburgers that were sold at the Coffee Pot cafe in Medford in the 1950s? It was on Riverside by the OK Market. — Mel G., Kerby
What was the name of the burger place on Crater Lake Highway in the mid '80s with the train theme? My wife and I recall a theme song with Casey Jones but cannot figure out what the place was called, and an Internet search without a name is out. — GCH, by email
I remember growing up eating tostadas at La Comida Mexican restaurant in Medford on the corner of McAndrews and Crater Lake Avenue, next to 7-Eleven. My parents even went on dates there before I was born. We were so sad when it closed. Ever since then, we have tried to recreate their tostada, but it never tastes quite right. We think it has to do with the refried bean sauce. Can you find the recipe? We loved both the thousand island dressing and the ranch on top. — Jessica H., Central Point
