Big-rig drivers can be fined in Medford

I often see 18-wheelers traveling through Medford. With the new sidewalk design at crosswalks, the people stand close to the traffic passing by. Don't we have a truck route in Medford? What is the fine for not using the truck route if you are a loaded truck passing through?

— Marvin

You are right, Marvin. Large trucks are banned from driving through downtown Medford. Signs direct truck drivers to alternate routes.

Driving in violation of a posted truck route is a class B violation that can carry a fine of up to $260, according to Medford Police Lt. Kevin Walruff, patrol commander for the department.

Walruff said he checked with patrol officers about the question, and they said trucks driving through downtown Medford has not been a frequent problem.
