Shred and drug disposal event in April
When will Jackson County offer free document shredding and medication disposal again?
— Deborah S., Central Point
You only have to wait until next month, Deborah. Well, make that the end of next month. Don't start stacking your sensitive documents just yet. You've got plenty of time.
Rogue Shred customer service representative Melissa Pickrel tells us the next such event will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 29, at the Medford police headquarters, 219 S. Ivy St. Past events have resulted in hundreds of pounds of drugs being turned in, with thousands of pounds of documents being dropped off for shredding.
On the medication front, you don't have to wait though. The Jackson County Recycling Partnership website, http://jcrecycle.org/about-the-partnership/special-events/prescription-otc-drug-drop-box-locations, offers a list of drop-box locations where you can safely dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications so they don't linger in your medicine cabinet.
