Cause of Fern Valley Road fire undetermined

I was wondering if they ever figured out the cause of that fire on Fern Valley Road.

The cause of a fire that occurred Nov. 5, at 4059 Fern Valley Road outside Phoenix is “undetermined,” as the damage was quite extensive, burning up any potential evidence, according to Medford Fire-Rescue.

“It had burned undetected for quite a while,” said Deputy Fire Marshal Samantha Metheny. “We found a lot of things that it wasn’t. When we have too many unknowns, we have to call it undetermined.”

A woman found dead at the scene was identified by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as Lorraine Ellen Morgan, 62. Her cause of death remains under investigation, fire and law enforcement officials said.

Four engines from Medford Fire-Rescue and Jackson County Fire District No. 5 responded to the blaze at 6:40 p.m. Nov. 5, arriving about six minutes after being dispatched. The two-story house was well-involved, and crews had it out in about 20 minutes. They found Morgan dead inside during knockdown efforts.

Crews stayed on scene for several hours after the fire was knocked down, coordinating with the sheriff’s department on the case.
