Friday power outage caused by equipment glitch
On the evening of Dec. 18, a section of southwest Medford had a power outage that lasted almost 2 hours. I have not seen anything in the news about what happened. Can you find out what caused the outage?

The outage you mentioned was reported to Pacific Power crews shortly after 5:30 p.m. Friday, according to company spokesman Drew Hanson.
The outage affected about 2,300 customers in southwest Medford, Hanson said, and lasted until about 7:30 p.m. Crews who made the fix determined the cause stemmed from an underground equipment glitch that happened because of a recent system upgrade, Hanson said. Power was fully restored just after 7:30 p.m.
“We appreciated our customers’ patience and understanding as Pacific Power crews worked as quickly and safely as possible to restore service,” Hanson told us in an email.
