Garbage truck versus bicyclist crash under investigation
There was a collision between a garbage truck and a bike at the intersection of Table Rock Road and East Vilas Road a few weeks ago. Any news on what happened and the condition of the rider?
The case report is still being finalized before it is sent to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for review, according to Jackson County Sheriff’s Department public information officer Mike Moran.
“It’s still in progress,” Moran said. “I think the reconstruction is where it’s waiting. The DA’s office will eventually get the report, and then we’ll go from there. The complete report has just not been submitted to the DA yet.”
The report could be completed by sometime around mid-month, Moran added.
Here’s what we know at this point. It’s not much.
The crash, which happened at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, when a bicyclist who was traveling on East Vilas Road west of Table Rock Road was struck by a garbage truck exiting a driveway, Moran said.
The condition of the bicyclist was not available, Moran said. We’ll update when we know more.
